The speech topic:
Approaches and tools to minimize/avoid migration of MOSH/MOAH substances and other contaminants from paper& board food contact materials into foods
Personal profile:
Dr. Roland Franz is Senior Scientist at the Department ‘Product Safety and Chemical Analysis’ of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV in Freising, Germany. Since more than 30 years main focus of his scientific work was on interactions between packaging and food. Recent research objectives within the EU project ‘FACET’ were development an into-food migration model to enable calculation of consumer exposure. Other actual research areas are on migration potential of nano-particles, not-intentionally added substances (NIAS) and oligomers from food contact materials. He is (co-)author of more than 160 scientific publications. Member and chair of the ‘Committee for Consumer Products’ of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, BfR, in Berlin. Was many years member of the CEF Panel on Contact Materials, Enzymes and Flavourings of the European Food Safety Authority EFSA.
