Establishment of risk assessment system for food contact materials in China
Personal profile:
Haixia Sui, Professor, China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment. She holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition and Food Hygiene from China National center for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Sui is mainly engaged in food safety research with a focus on the risk assessment of chemicals in food, including the research on risk assessment techniques and model construction. She is in charge of the risk assessment of food contact materials in China, she presided over the preparation of the guidelines for risk assessment of food contact materials in China, the guidelines for the application of Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) in the food safety risk assessment, and the technical guidance for the identification and evaluation of non-intentionally added substances (NIAS) in food contact materials. Currently, she is working on the construction of safety assessment system for food contact materials in China, and the high throughout genetic toxicity screening system for multiple substances from FCM in China. She preside over the risk assessment of phthalate acid esters in Chinese population, aggregated risk assessment of BPA in Chinese population, risk assessment of MOH in key foods in China, risk assessment of main metal elements from stainless steel and aluminum articles in contact with food. She is currently an Expert of Food Related Products Committee of the Second National Food Safety Review Committee, Member of the first Chinese Experts Committee of the China Section of AOAC, review expert of new categories of food-related products, expert of the China technical working group of ISO/TC52 International Standardization Technical Committee for Thin-Walled Metal Containers.
